Jana and her mother were seriously wounded in the Russian attack: They returned home to Lviv after treatment in the USA

Jana, who lost both her feet in a Russian missile attack, went to the US, where a clinic allowed her to walk again.

The Stepanenko family was living in the New York neighborhood of Donetsk, Ukraine when Russia invaded. On April 8, 2022, they were at the Kramatorsk railway station waiting to be evacuated, when a Russian missile hit the station, killing 52 adults and seven children.
